Here's to You, Mr. Magu.
As I walked along the line of pre-parade staged floats, bands, horses and classic cars taking of photos, Mrs. Magu (note license plate) burst into conversation. Telling me how this is her first time driving in the parade, her husband usually does, and he really wanted to be here but he is in the hospital.
She continues on. "58 years ago my husband asked me where I wanted to go on our honeymoon. I said Hawaii. He said ' I will have to sell my car (same model Impala).' She said "well do it." He did. When they got back from honeymoon her mother told me she was very selfish to make him sell his car.
Flash forward to 2008. "We found this car in junkyard, rats living in the seats, but we bought it anyway. My husband asked me if I minded that he wanted to spend every cent we had fixing it up. I thought to myself, 'I can't be selfish again.' "Go a head honey."
Well Mr Magu, the car is gorgeous. You did a tremendous job. Here's to hoping you are back on your feet again soon!
