The Puffy Palm Mystery

Why is my left hand all swolled up?

No... that is not the reason, I am right handed.

Dr. Rashmi says "Let's get an X-Ray."

*

Lobulated soft tissue lucency surrounding the first metacarpocarpal bone measuring 4.0 x 3.2 cm. No osseous erosion. No periosteal reaction.
 No acute fracture or dislocation.

Dr. Rashmi says "go to Hand Specialist"

Dr. Jun says "Let's get an MRI."

MUSCULATURE: Intramuscular lesion centered in the abductor pollicis with internal T2 hyperintensity with dimensions of up to 3.4 x 1.7 x 3.9 cm. Multiple thin septations are seen most pronounced in the proximal periphery of the lesion without definitive peripheral nodularity. A thin T2 hyperintense rim is seen along the distal aspect of the lesion suggestive of a thin pseudocapsule. There is no evidence of edema in the surrounding musculature. No other suspicious soft tissue lesions are seen. Muscles about the wrist and proximal hand demonstrate no denervation change.
FLUID/OTHER: No significant joint effusion.
BONES: Bone marrow signal is normal. No contusion or fracture.
LIGAMENTS: Scapholunate and lunotriquetral ligaments are intact. Dorsal and volar capsular ligaments are intact.
TENDONS: Flexor and extensor tendons are intact.
TFCC: Triangular fibrocartilaginous complex is intact.
NERVES: Median nerve and carpal tunnel are normal. Ulnar nerve and Guyon's canal are normal.

Dr. Jun says "Let's take it out."

Just a fatty boom boom mass. No cancer.

That was fast.

It never really hurt that much after surgery, I didn't even have to take the GOOD meds.

13 days later... Stitches coming out.

Physician Assistant-Certified - Stephanie removing the stitches.

Passed all the post-op flexibility, motion, and strength test. Everything seems to be working normally.

Here are some other recent images of my inner sanctum. SANCTum.

Investigating shoulder pain.

Routine Eye Exam

And this is the perfect time for a Beatle's song segue.
