A Visit to Año Nuevo State Park
(Don't Skip the "ñ". If you spell it "Ano" it means New Anus State Park.)
The Visitor Center is in an old barn. You have to get a permit before you walk out to see the seals. |
The view walking out is awesome... |
... lined with grasses, flowers and berries. |
... and a pond, a pleasant walk (or so it seemed). |
The Ranger said you would come to a dune, ok, no problem. |
Ok, Problem. It was only 50 ft up. Two steps forward, slide back one. |
But the seals were just around the corner on the down hill side of the dune. |
That Nose is why they are called Elephant Seals....
But I think they should have been named after Jimmy Durante.
Some of the older boys wrestling. |
Free for all Brawl |
But mostly they were just there to soak up some rays, |
Hang out by the Shore |
or scoot off to find some peace and quiet. |
The walk back was just as pleasant |
the view just as spectaular |
But it did seem a little longer. |
Some Elephant Seal Facts and A movie I made at the end.
